WAVA: Past, Present and Future

Change is good. Over the years WAVA has gone through a great many transformations, and this October it will see even more exciting developments take place …
It’s immensely satisfying doing the job that we do. Our customers come to us wanting meaningful experiences abroad (whether that involves helping others in volunteer projects, or helping themselves in work placements), and it feels good sending these people to inspiring programmes around the world.
Progress is impossible without change, and WAVA today is completely different to the WAVA of 2006 – it is now exactly the company that we envisaged it would become when it was re-branded 20 months ago in January 2010.
Nothing worthwhile comes easy however, and we’ve worked hard to reach the point where we are today. Over the last 20 months we’ve implemented many new procedures that have enabled us to fortify our relationship with (and knowledge of) our projects, partners and our volunteers.
Integrated a helpful volunteering foot-rating system.
Set up the Super6 system: Supporting projects that really rely on the help of participants.
We’ve amassed a collection of nearly 20,000 photos and videos from around the world.
WAVA is what it is today not only because of the fantastic partners and projects that we work with around the world, but because of the people that make up the WAVA team – @Susana, @Chini, @Rhys, @Peter, @Sally and @Ricard have been the cogs in the wheel that has steered the company to exactly where it is today. The knowledge that each member of the team has gained from their daily interaction with participants and from their travels around the world is WAVA’s most valuable resource.
In October 2011 two new staff members will be joining the WAVA team, @Emma and @Robert. Both are committed to the ideals that WAVA embodies and will be a welcome addition to the WAVA brand. They will be taking principal roles in the advancement of the company, and are looking forward to continuing the period of growth in brand recognition that WAVA has achieved. WAVA is pointed firmly in the right direction, and the arrival of two new team members will keep the company going strong way into the future.
In the last 20 months we have learnt so much from all our travellers and partners around the world. As WAVA continues to grow and members of the team move on to other things, we acknowledge that we have been shaped by our ‘WAVA experience’. We hope that we have woven memorable experiences into the lives of all our travellers.
We recognise that the only way to keep from going backwards is to keep going forward, so it is with your continued support that we will enjoy the next 20 months! Thank you.
